When school is over for the day, the Boys & Girls Club of Taunton is a safe and positive place for young people. Regular after-school activities run Monday through Friday beginning at 2:30 p.m. and running until 7:00 p.m.
The Boys & Girls Club of Taunton works to provide programs that incorporate Boys & Girls Club of America's national "Formula for Impact" model, which focuses on the priority outcomes of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Character & Citizenship development. All of our daily after school educational and recreational programs are designed to drive positive outcomes for youth and reinforce necessary life skills, and are specifically designed to address the unique needs of the youth who comprise our membership. We offer a consistent and caring environment grounded in youth development principles with staff who interact with and engage members each day.
The following core educational programs are aimed at enabling youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations, and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.
Project Learn: This program enhances the skills and knowledge young people learn at school. Boys & Girls Club of Taunton staff members are trained to incorporate educational opportunities into all program areas. Power Hour: Power Hour helps Club members ages 6-12 be more successful in school by providing homework help and tutoring and encouraging members to become self-directed learners.
SkillTech: SkillTech familiarizes Club members with technology, particularly the use of computers and the basic skills that are necessary to excel in school and the workplace.
Money Matters: Money Matters uses interactive activities to educate teens on financial literacy, including managing a checking account, budgeting, investing and paying for college.
Diplomas 2 Degrees: This college readiness program assists Club members as they work toward high school graduation and prepare for post-secondary education and career success.
Be Great, Graduate: This is an early intervention dropout prevention program designed to enhance our members’ love of learning by providing consistent support from caring and trusted adults who serve as mentors and tutors. The goal of the program are to build up our youths’ confidence and provide them with the skills they need to succeed academically.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Education: Our programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) provide our members with an integrated, experiential approach to learning and applying concepts which will prepare them to solve complex 21st Century problems. High-yield activities are a staple of our STEM Education programs and are designed to pique our members' interest in STEM topics through fun, hands-on experiments, nature walks, weather observation and measurements, and simple chemistry projects, etc.
In addition to our core programming, after school leisure activities include: open swim, various gym games, music, dance, outdoor play, game, computer activities, organized game tournaments, sports leagues, and much more.
