Our inclusive policy is based on making BGCT a fun and all inclusive place within our community. Doors are open to anyone regardless of their genders, sexual preferences, ethnic background or economic standings. Here at the Club we strive to make this a safe environment for our LGBTQ youth within this community. We are here to create a shared understanding of inclusive and affirming language and vocabulary, build momentum around a national dialog on how the best support our youth, and to identify strategies to cultivate a safe and positive environment for all the youths we serve each day.
Kids Cafe' Healthy Meals Program
In May 2018 we launched our first-ever meals program! Each night, all of our members -- regardless of income -- receive a nutritious meal packed with fruits, veggies, whole grains and calcium at no additional cost. Here at the Club a shifting economy means 50% of our members qualify for free or reduced lunch. Providing assistance to families who need help is our motivation! Together we can combat food insecurities in our neighborhood. Check out this months menu.
In addition to meal service, we work to teach our members how to choose healthy foods when they are not at the Club and to make the connection between eating well and feeling well and healthy. We also aim to eliminate the anxiety that comes with never knowing where one’s next meal will come from. By removing this constant worry from the minds of our members, we can free them up to better apply their efforts in school and to be able to just be kids.
Fee-for-Service When school is out kids need the opportunity to be evolved in sport activities which will not only help keep them active but promote a positive environment that continues to develop their athleticism, teaching them skills for stress management and strengthening their social skills though participation in team-orientated activities.
